In recent weeks the number of plants showing symptoms of tomato spotted wilt virus has increased significantly. Remember that additional applications of insecticides to control thrips have not been shown to reduce the level of tswv as the season progresses. Our early season thrips control efforts are the ones that count.
Ames Herbert is reporting relatively high level of pyrethroid resistance in corn earworms this year. We will stay on top of this and modify our spray recommendations if we feel the use of non-pyrethroid insecticides will be necessary.
