Frost Advisory

— Written By NC State Extension

The Peanut Hotline (800) 795-0700 and the Peanut/Cotton InfoNet (http://webipm.ento.vt.edu/cgi-bin/infonet1.cgi ) will be used to issue Peanut Frost Advisories for Suffolk, Capron, Waverly, and Skippers in Virginia and Lewiston in North Carolina starting on Saturday, October 1. The toll-free number will be accessible from area codes in northeastern North Carolina (252) and southeastern Virginia (757, 804, 434). This year marks the 20th anniversary for this cooperative program and the dedicated assistance by Dr. Dave Walker (Meteorologist) who prepares the daily advisories through the support of Virginia and North Carolina Peanut Grower Associations.

As in previous years, we are planning to issue daily advisories until the digging of peanuts is essentially complete in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Please contact me should you have any questions about or problems accessing the Peanut Hotline or the Peanut/Cotton InfoNet.
