Saddle Tanks and Inoculant

— Written By

Question:

I have a farmer that is looking at switching up his peanut equipment next year. He wants to switch his inoculant from his front tank and put them in saddle tanks. Will there be any problems with the engine heat damaging the inoculant if he does this?

Answer:

I don’t think this is an issue because the water will be relatively cool going in and should not heat up in the amount of time it takes to plant. I suspect we have a fair number of growers doing this already. The key is to mix and then plant ASAP.
