Inoculant Compatibility Peanut Notes No. 26 2018

— Written By

There are some reports that applying inoculant for nitrogen fixation with insecticides (imidacloprid) results in poor nodulation compared with inoculant alone. Although this has been reported occasionally by researchers in replicated trials, in general and across many acres and years we have seen no issue. Apply the inoculant on the same day as mixing. I polled all agents in North Carolina and most responded. None of the agents reported a complaint from growers. With that said, just because we have not seen it does not mean it does not happen (the old adage, “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”)  But based on what we currently know imidacloprid and inoculants are considered compatible.
