J-Rooting Due to Poor Seed Quality Peanut Notes No. 62 2018

— Written By

This note has an example of J-Rooting. The cause of J-Rooting is often poor seed quality. Chloroacetamide herbicides, in particular metolachlor, have been erroneously labeled as the cause of J-Rooting. The plant showing J-Rooting is from a lot of Wynne that had very poor emergence this spring. A healthy root system from Bailey planted on the same day is also provided.
