Initiating Fungicide Sprays for Leaf Spot Disease Peanut Notes No. 72

— Written By

With the wide range of planting dates in North Carolina, there are questions about when to initiate fungicide sprays. Regardless of planting date, fungicide sprays in North Carolina need to begin no sooner than July 5 but no later than July 20. Fungicide sprays for peanut planted in early June can begin more towards July 20 than July 5, but late-planted peanut may need protection through September depending on weather conditions. When the first spray is closer to July 20, the spray will need fungicides effective for both leaf spot and stem rot.
