Adjuvants With Herbicides in Hot Weather Peanut Notes No. 127 2025

Question:

Is it okay to apply Cadre and 2,4-DB with methylated seed oil in this hot weather?

Jordan:

I would not apply MSO. I don't think you need MSO over crop oil or 80/20 surfactant. I would use 80/20 at 1 quart per 100 gallons and spray now. In my experience, weed control might seem better for a few days when herbicides are applied with crop oil or MSO, but a week or so later, control is the same with all three adjuvants.

A significant amount of the weed control with Cadre comes from root absorption, even when applied to emerged weeds. Adjuvant foes not affect this. If you have any Palmer amaranth, common ragweed or eclipta, you will need to add Ultra Blazer at 1.5 pints per acre.
