Question:
We have a farm planted 5/1 with NC 20.Probably 45 days from digging. Nodules are rough most are dead. And it looks like nitrogen deficiency.The book suggests 200-300 lbs AMS applied at this point and I just wanted to verify that’s still a valid recommendation.

Yes. If the peanuts are yellow and it is a clear N deficiency.

I presume there’s not a good point where you draw that distinction?
Like in cotton, we generally have said 3rd week of bloom after that the root system isn’t going to take up enough nitrogen to utilize it economically.

I have no data to really support that table. Lots of data on what to do earlier in the season. Logic in the table is good but not verified.
You need at least 50% of the field N deficient to justify a broadcast application of dry AMS.
