Question:
I am curious how concerned we should be with these cool nights? Last night we had temps in the 40s and in the 50s are forecasted for tonight and tomorrow night
Jordan:
It does slow things down to a halt but no long term issue. Plenty of time to get going again. Several years ago, we had the coldest May in decades and peanuts eventually did fine. The issue in Sep/Oct is it seldom warms up enough to get going again and then it gets cool again quickly. In May and June, there are plenty of heat units to get things going again. However, thrips will continue to be an issue because peanuts will grow out of them slowly.
