Dry Weather and Injury From Valor Peanut Notes No. 56 2025

A grower asked if Valor should be avoided because they are planting now and it does not look like we will get significant rain for some period of time (this was a question several days ago.) They were concerned about Valor Injury if rains do not come before the peanuts emerge. The greatest injury potential from Valor is when a farmer sprays after planting and does not get rain until the peanuts begin emerging. This is when we can get significant splash up injury from Valor. In my experience however, even with significant burn of peanuts from Valor in a case like this, peanuts will recover quickly and no impact on peanut yield will occur. Peanuts grow out of the injury quickly.

In my view, the weed control we gain from Valor far exceeds the concern about injury from Valor.
