A grower indicated that weeds were present but it was dry. He wanted to know if he should spray or wait until there was more soil moisture.  My answer is to spray. The weeds will continue to grow, especially Palmer amaranth, so waiting is not an option. Peanuts typically grow out of injury even when herbicides are applied to peanuts with some stress. Contact herbicides (Cobra and Ultra Blazer, for example,) typically perform adequately under dry conditions. The exception is grass control with clethodim products. When grasses are stressed, clethodim (a systemic herbicide) will only provide partial control. Increasing the rate can result in slightly greater control but not always complete control.
