It is possible that fumigants like Telone II could kill Rhizobium is soil. But that should not affect Rhizobium that is applied in the seed furrow or hopper box the year after use of fumigant or even when fumigant is put out 2-3 weeks prior to planting peanuts and inoculating. The fumigant moves off as a gas from a liquid through the soil profile within a 2-3 week window. This is when the fumigant kills organisms. But then it is gone.

If this is new land that never had peanuts, it needs inoculant in the seed furrow and a peat-based product in the hopper with seed as insurance. We have a lot of data that we base or recommendation on that every acre of peanuts should be inoculated every year. Regardless of previous rotation history.
