I had a good conversation with an excellent farmer about how to handle fungicide sprays with recent heavy rains and wet fields. The farmer has received over 10 inches of rain in the last 2 weeks and does not want to rut fields. Chlorothalonil and Provost Silver have been sprayed on time with fields due for the third spray tomorrow (Friday July 31.) It is too wet now and there is concern that it won’t get better in the near term.

The farmer was scheduled to spray Miravis plus Elatus Friday. That is an effective yet expensive treatment. The farmer has history of Sclerotinia blight in some place. The farmer is going to spray Chlorothalonil plus Tebuconazole by air this week and either follow up with Provost Silver next week by air if the field is too wet or go by ground if fields dry out with either Provost Silver or Miravis plus Elatus.

GPA is likely no more than 5, so coverage will be limited, especially in the bottom of the canopy.
