I had a question about using Revytek versus Miravis plus Elatus. The farmer was doing the math and based on his numbers, if he could get 3 weeks of protection with Revytek, financially he was better off. My answer was that Revytek is a good fungicide for leaf spot and stem rot, but based on the data that I am aware of in the region, it provides 14 days of protection and not 21 days. I don't know the answer to this for sure, and there could be risk if the interval is stretched without that knowledge. I do know that Miravis plus Elatus can provide 21 days of protection. We did a lot of work on this and based on that work, we could get 28 days of protection with Miravis plus Elatus. However, we are sticking with the 21 day recommendation because of some challenges in the peanut belt with extended control with Miravis plus Elatus now compared to when it (Miravis) was first registered.
We put out a trial yesterday with Miravis plus Elatus, Lucento, Provost Silver, and Revytek to see if we can get 21 days of suppression out of these fungicides. These were the first sprays of the season in this trial (I decided to put it in after this phone conversation and a question about ammonium sulfate last week,) so we are already behind. We will share the results this coming winter.
