Nematode Suppression with Outreach SC Peanut Notes No. 45 2026

Peanut field being planted in spring.

Question from Jordan:

There is a nematicide from Valent that can be used in peanuts called Outreach SC with Bacillus amyloiquefaciens. I looked at it last year and did not see activity but had marginal nematode levels in general. What would you expect?

Gorny:

I know about this product and have seen the promotional material for it.  However, I haven't worked with it very extensively yet.  We just did one small trial in cotton last year and didn't see outstanding activity.  Bacillus amyloiquefaciens is known to have activity against nematodes in the lab, but biologicals for nematode management in the field can be tricky.  I'll be doing another trial with it this year.
