In your Extension Peanuts on Monday No. 82 read that the rate of Gramoxone could be increased from 5.5 to 8 oz if Basagram was used with the 2 lb material. Should this have been the 3.0 lb of Gramoxone?

Labels often have a range. No matter what rate one uses, always add Basagran. In recent years, I have been recommending 8 oz (3 lb material) or 11 oz (2.5 lb material) plus 8 oz/acre Basagran. I think we are spraying bigger weeds in general and the higher rate helps.

I would only make one application in the 28-day window. Label allows 2 sprays, but 2 sprays worry me. I’d spray within 3 weeks of emergence. I most often suggest a Group 15 companion for more residual control.

Make sure peanuts have recovered from thrips injury and Valor injury.
