Planting Peanuts in June Peanut Notes No. 105 2025

(Updated: June 10, 2025, 1:30 a.m.)

My cutoff date for planting and/or replanting peanuts is June 10. Peanut Notes No. 77 2025 and No. 79 2025 address these topics in more detail. Peanut yield when planting in early and mid-June are about 15% and 25% lower, respectively, than planting in either early to mid-May in northeastern North Carolina. Of course, there is greater opportunity for peanuts to do relatively well the further south we go in the state, primarily due to temperatures we might experience in the fall.
