Question:
How does usg 500 compare to what folks are getting out of Southport?
Jordan:
Here are the rates I’ve recommended with the various products (see 2026 Peanut Information).
Follow Up:
Ok, have you had any issues with it over anything else? A retailer in VA was asking about it with the price of fuel he said it may look appetizing to the retailers.
Jordan:
USG 500 was used a lot 15 or more years ago. It was priced out by some of the by-products. USG 420 and USG 500 seemed to be the standards after USG Ben Franklin bagged product became unavailable. Slowly by-products were readily available and replaced USG to the point where it was not distributed. The world is different now. It was a good product as best I recall from a distribution and performance perspective. It had to be mined and shipped, so it did not compete with local by-products 20 years ago. I’m glad it is getting back in the market.
Historically, I have not had any issues with it. Of course, we have not applied in almost 20 years.
