Question:
Can you spray Warrant on peanuts that are up?
Jordan:
Yes
*When considering the Group 15 options we have available, Warrant is less effective than most of the others. It is still a good option, but some weeds slip through Warrant. None of the Group 15 herbicides have appreciable activity on emerged weeds. The exception is Anthem Flex which includes carfentrazone (the active ingredient in the herbicide Aim.) Morningglory that has emerged is often more effectively controlled by this Group 15 herbicide (Anthem Flex is a Group 15 plus a PPO herbicide.) All Group 15 herbicides can be applied to peanut foliage without injuring the crop. With that said, Group 15 herbicides often increase foliar burn by paraquat plus Basagran by about 20% compared with paraquat plus Basagran alone. Add about 15% more to the 20% for Anthem Flex. But the injury is transient and peanuts grow out of the injury quickly. Basagran as a safener is always important to add. It is especially important when including a Group 15 herbicide.
