Peanuts need just as much nitrogen as a corn crop needs on a particular soil series. That’s where our seemingly “high” rate of ammonium sulfate comes from. I wish we could correct the nitrogen deficiency less expensively. We can’t.

Wish I had better news. Hope the farmer gets the yield increase needed. My recommendation for everyone, but especially in new ground, is to apply in-furrow and peat-based inoculant in the hopper with seed. Very inexpensive insurance. I would do this in every field no matter what the rotation history is.
