Gypsum Timing Peanut Notes No. 127 2021

Question:

Land plaster applications have been going out, however we have some folks that are behind and may find themselves even more so due to the TS. They have mostly Bailey/Bailey II and all are already pegging with the most mature being at R3.

By "behind" I mean they have been informed that their application may even be approx 2 more weeks out. Do you have any suggestions on options at this point?

We are "fingers crossed" and checking other plaster options, that the above is not where we find ourselves. However, we wanted to have any backup plans possible already in our foresight!

Jordan answer:

There is no substitute for landplaster or gypsum.  Foliar calcium sources are inadequate because calcium has limited mobility in plants and pod demand is high.  Peanuts will still benefit from gypsum ‘being applied all the way through July.
