Do you usually recommend a postemergence application of Dual for residual grass control?

In some fields that is a good idea, but I mostly think about Palmer amaranth and eclipta. But it helps on grassy weeds too. The key is to make sure the residual gets out before weeds are up. I often recommend a group 15 like Dual with contact herbicides (primarily PPO inhibitors) or Clethodim products. Zidua, Outlook and Anthem Flex are good options. Warrant is okay but lets some weeds come through. In particular Texas panicum.
Follow up:
We have some grass, cocklebur, morningglory, and eclipta. Looking at Storm, 2,4-DB and Select to clean things up. He might be able to manage late grass with Clethodim rather than the Dual?

Yes, grasses are not the issue given we have Clethodim to clean things up. Storm plus 2,4-DB is a good option.
