Question:

A farmer applied Cryova at 9 oz/care with crop oil, 32% N, and Mn. Received rain 1-4 hours after application. What are your thoughts on the effectiveness of both the Mn and PGR given the time limit of the rain. Also can the PGR be sprayed with his next fungicide application, and should he still use crop oil and 32%? He didn’t finish treating all his acres.

Jordan:

The manganese should be okay, especially if the application was primarily for maintenance and no visible symptoms of a deficiency. Nine oz/acre of Cryova is above what I recommend (7.2 oz/acre), and with 1-4 hours he is likely okay. I have heard of spraying Apogee, then getting rain shortly thereafter, and then spraying again ASAP. They received a yield hit from too much Apogee. You can put too much out, especially as a single application. I would wait 1-2 weeks and see if the peanuts get the deep green look. That is a sign it worked. I would not turn around and spray ASAP. For optimum performance, he needs the crop oil in and especially the nitrogen. Do not leave off the nitrogen. In my experience, you can apply fungicides with dry Apogee, dry Kudos, and dry Cryova including crop oil and nitrogen.

DO NOT apply anything other than crop oil or nonionic surfactant plus nitrogen with Kudos OD.
