Addressing Frost Potential in Peanut Peanut Notes No. 204 2019

— Written By

Frost Information can be found at the Peanut/Cotton InfoNet. It is geared toward the upper peanut belt. Peanuts need to be dug at least 72 hours before a frost. This allows peanuts to dry, and there is also shrinkage of kernels within the pod that creates an insulation layer. The greatest risk for frost is tomorrow morning, but after Saturday (at least for next week) frost is not expected. Peanuts are unlikely to continue maturing now due to cooler temperatures.

I have copied the information for tomorrow and next week from the site.

FROST EXPECTED SATURDAY (SUF,CAP,WAV,SKIPPERS,LEWISTON)

NO FROST EXPECTED SUNDAY THROUGH NEXT FRIDAY
