Potash Applied to Peanut Peanut Notes No. 25 2020

Question:

Grower contacted me about applying potash to his peanuts. He is going to field cultivate and bed before planting. Field has already been disked. Calls for 50 units and grower is checking the index now to see exact values. Would you apply or just let it go this year?

Jordan answer:

I would apply as needed based on soil test. Distribute evenly through the soil profile. Make sure the normal rate of gypsum is applied. I know excessive potash can cause problems with pod fill, but if the soil test calls for it I recommend to apply.
