Apogee or Kudos on Virginia Market Type Varieties Peanut Notes No. 132 2020

Question:

This year we have Baileys, Sullivan, and Emery peanuts. The Emery are for seed. In previous years we have been told not to use Apogee on Sullivan. What about Emery? Should I use Apogee on them like we do the Bailey?

Jordan Answer:

I think in many cases Sullivan does not need Apogee. But I have had cases with good fertility and moisture where they did get rank. I think one has to make sure they do not spray it too early if they decide to use it. If you spray Bailey and Sullivan at the same time (optimum for Bailey) you will likely get a yield loss on Sullivan because the Sullivan is later lapping. The key is to let them lap.
