Using Plant Width as Indicator of R3 Growth Stage Peanut Notes No. 119 2020

Question:

Generally, how wide is a peanut plant when the R3 stage is reached?

Shew:

Will venture 12 to 18 inches.

Jordan:

Measured some today. 18 inches but just now pegging. I don’t think that width is a good indicator of reproductive stages. Suspect days after planting is a better indicator.
