Peanut Development and Maturity Predictions Peanut Notes No. 179 2020
Some peanuts in dry areas of the state set a significant number of pegs in early August. A major question is when will they reach optimum maturity? Of course, I am going to say it depends on a lot of things. If we get good moisture and have a warm September and October, the predictions in the attached Tables suggest November 15. If we have a fall like the last two falls maybe November 1. For more details, see chapter 10 in 2020 Peanut Information (these tables are found on page 174.) The first table was developed by Dr. Balota at VT. I used that table to create possible scenarios for Table 2.
