Canola and Pumpkin Control in Peanut Peanut Notes No. 79 2021

I received questions about controlling volunteer pumpkin and canola in peanuts. My recommendation on these and many other plants that are weeds is paraquat (8 oz/acre of the 3 lb ai/gal formulation) plus Basagran (8 oz/acre) plus nonionic surfactant (1 pint/100 gallons spray solution.)  This treatment will control many of the weeds in fields if they are 2 inches or less in height. In some instances this treatment can control weeds that 4 inches in height but control is less consistent. Basagran alone (at a higher rate) should also control canola if paraquat is not considered an option.
