Question:
What is your recommendation for a producer that is planting 2.5” to 3” deep and there is no moisture that far down in the soil?
We have a few producers in VA and northeast North Carolina that have stopped planting because of lack of moisture or have asked what they should be doing in this particular situation. I would like to provide them with the best information possible.
Jordan:
I would not put peanuts in the ground if there is not adequate moisture to get them up. I would wait for a rain and if it gets too far into June I would shift to soybeans. If we get rain they should be able to drop in and plant given the field is already ready to plant.
