This weekend I was asked about planting peanuts under cool conditions. My experience has been that peanuts are more resilient in emerging under cool conditions than cotton. Soil temperatures are in good shape across much of the region and peanuts should be able to emerge okay. This time of the year I have seen peanuts take 7 to 21 days to emerge. The slow emergence can be stressful but over the years my experience is that peanut seed that has good quality (most Foundation and Certified seed have good quality) and is treated with fungicides that are effective against soil pathogens will make a stand.
