Potash Applied at Planting Peanut Notes No. 45 2021

Question:

I heard you tested potash applications on peanuts up to and after emergence with fairly high rates with little or no incidence causing pops. I have a grower that has no potash on several farms now bedded. Can he apply approximately 70 to 100 lbs of actual K just before planting or postemergence with no tillage?

Jordan:

We did a series of studies applying 250 pounds of potash on the soil surface right after planting and observed no major issue. If soil test calls for it you should apply. Don’t cut back on gypsum.
