Light Green Peanuts Peanut Notes No. 107 2021

(Updated: June 26, 2021, 5:30 p.m.)

Many fields have peanuts that appear light green in color.  Most of these fields have this look because of the wet field conditions and cloudy weather.  Wet soils limit activity of inoculum for BNF (biological nitrogen fixation.)  Cloudy days also slow down photosynthesis.  We do not need to apply nitrogen on the vast majority of fields.  When fields dry and the sun comes out peanuts will begin to green up substantially.
