Frank Winslow, long-time Cooperative Extension Service Agent and native son of North Carolina passed away on June 28 after a long battle with cancer. A celebration of Frank is planned for Saturday, July 10 (see the link below). I first met Frank in the early 1980s and then got to know him well through our roles in Cooperative Extension related to peanuts. Many wonderful words and stories are being said and told about Frank and I am sure will also be shared on July 10. I’ve thought about Frank over the past few days and his legacy. What I remember most about Frank is how good I always felt about life and myself during and after our visits and conversations. Sometimes you will hear people say (and maybe you have said it yourself just like I have) “a little bit of that person goes a long way.”  That sentiment is most often said in a negative way, but with Frank these words are always positive. The uplifting feelings and perspectives I have gained in moments with Frank have always lasted long after we went in different directions. It is rare that a person has such a meaningful impact on others. That was a gift Frank gave everyone he came in contact with. Words can only begin to express the gift of Frank Winslow.
