At the production meetings I have made brief comments about Vydate with respect to thrips control and suppression of nematodes. Those comments have been made based on previous discussions with Rick Brandenburg and Adrienne Gorny (NCSU) and Sally Taylor (VT) as well as broader discussions with colleagues at Clemson University and University of Georgia. Our reluctance to recommend this treatment in NC is not due to performance in general. We know Vydate can suppress both thrips and nematodes in peanuts. We are not recommending it because we have not looked at it in NC, and until we know more about how it performs in NC we will point you to the products for both pests that we know something about under our conditions. We plan to research these in 2022 and will have a better handle on how to recommend Vydate for the 2023 growing season. We hope this product is reasonably effective because we need as many tools as possible to manage pests in peanuts.
