Question:

Any guys planting peanuts yet? Have a grower that says he is ready to go tomorrow [April 23] but was a little worried about the lows in the 40s Wednesday through Saturday. Think he should hold off?

Jordan:

I don’t know of any that are planted. I would not plant any until the last week of April. Soils need to be 65 F at 4 inches and above at noon for 3 days following planting. I think peanuts planted now are just going to sit there unless soils are warmer than I think they are. And with the predicted temperatures for late next week, I would not plant until the first week of May (or when soils warm to recommended levels.)
