Valor Preplant Peanut Notes No. 67 2022

Question from Jordan to Valent:

What is the legality of Valor put out on the soil surface a few weeks or just before planting?

Valent Response:

Valor can legally be put out on the surface at 2 oz/A up to 30+ days before planting cotton, peanuts, soybeans, corn, sweet potatoes BEFORE the labeled rates for usage on any of those crops kicks in. EPA does not consider a Valor spray 30+ days before planting a “crop usage” and since the labeling of Valor, I have never seen a problem with growers using Valor at burndown and a refresher at planting.

So, a farmer can apply 2 oz/A Valor March 15 for about 6+ weeks residual and then apply another 2 oz/A at planting of peanuts or soybeans come late April or early May…..all legal and no residue issues, injury issues, etc.

Valor is labeled for preemergence sprays on notill corn up to 5 days before planting; up to 2 days after planting peanuts or soybeans(I prefer at planting); and in notill cotton, 14 days before planting.
