Here is one more data set showing differences in peanut response to seeding rate. Response was similar for Bailey, Emery, and Sullivan. These trials were conducted in both North Carolina and Virginia. There is a substantial break when comparing the lowest plant population to the higher populations. Hopefully, everyone will be able to complete planting or any replants during the week of June 5-9. If so, there is a good chance that yields will be comparable to plantings in May. It depends a great deal on temperatures in September and October (and rainfall throughout the season.) Given the cooler temperatures we experienced in May, later plantings will make up a lot of ground on the earlier plantings.
