I did get a question today about using Apogee this year. They’ve previously been doing 1 shot of Apogee. Minus the test last year in Martin, generally is 1 application better vs zero or 2?

It depends on the latter half of the season. I recommend that growers apply the first spray to actively growing peanuts with 50% of vines from adjacent rows are touching. If they get regrowth then a second application is advised. If it turns dry or peanuts don’t grow much, don’t make the second application. It is a wait and see approach.
In year one of Lance’s study one spray did not increase yield compared with non- treated peanuts. Two sprays increased yield. In year 2, one spray did not increase yield but did not hurt yield. The second spray lowered yield because it turned off dry. The thing is if it does get rank in growth you can’t shrink the peanuts. Apogee inhibits internode elongation. But once they elongate, you can’t go back.
