Collapse ▲It is rare that injury caused by Valor SX persists well into the season. This past spring we had a section of a field planted at the normal depth of 2-3 inches and another section planted at a depth of 0.5 to 1 inches (cotton planting depth.) As the peanuts were coming up, we experienced a hard rain. The deeper planted peanuts were slower to come up while the shallow plantings were exposed to more herbicide in part because the soil moved with the rain. This was not an experiment and was just an observation. The shallow planted peanuts likely had more splash up injury on more of the seedling than the deeper-planted peanuts. There could have been more going on with the shallow planting, but injury from Valor SX was much more pronounced in the shallow planted area.
