On page 190 in 2024 Peanut Information, in Tables 11-1 and 11-2, we have information on how long it takes for peanuts to move from one stage of development to the next. One of the tables gives you an estimate of when peanuts will reach various growth stages based on planting date. The context of the question I received was when would peanuts reach the pegging stage and when would a farmer need to initiate a fungicide spray program. Pegging is about 45 days after peanuts emerge and R-3 (when the first fungicide spray needs to go out - but no later than July 10) is about 60 days after peanuts emerge. Of course, moving through these stages is related to heat unit accumulation. There is also a degree of photoperiod involved, but heat units are the driver. Take that into consideration when you use the information in Tables 11-1 and 11-2.
