I recently discussed cutoff concentrations for salts in irrigation waters with Paul Smith (Gates county.) This often occurs from salt water intrusion from sounds and rivers in dry years. The general rule of thumb is 0.450 ppm for farmers in his area. However, injury from salts can occur at lower concentrations.
