Due to rain, multiple truck crops and being very short handed, a farmer has not applied any fungicides to peanuts. The farmer is ready to apply Provost Silver and Folicur but with more rain coming, who knows when. What you think of his soon to be applied application and the best management for the rest of the season?
Jordan:
Provost Silver has curative action, so I would spray that ASAP and then follow up with a second application on a short but legal interval. The farmer’s sprays need to be very tight for the balance of the season. Have to cure and protect what you can as well as you can. Miravis plus Elatus or chlorothalonil plus tebuconazole are not great options for him because they have no curative activity. I would suggest 5 pounds per acre of microionized sulfur with the Provost Silver. The product is Microthiol Disperss by UPI. Aggravating to mix but it will help too. Priaxor and Revytek would be good as sprays 3 and 4. Needs to get as much protection as possible. The sulfur formulation has small droplets so it is much more effective than the sulfur used when we were younger men.
