Jordan Response to Previous Question:

You have Sclerotinia blight. Omega 500 or generic at 1 pint will help. There is a 30 day PHI. You could go with 1.5 pints if you have a lot of disease beginning.

New Question:

Found generic. Spray technique? Any preference. 20 gpa #1 early night spray leaves folded up & no dew #2 early morning spray leaves folded with dew #3 afternoon spray.

Label doesn’t say systemic or non systemic but has application through irrigation directions so that’s what got me thinking. Convoy works great at night but no idea about this product.

Jordan:

We have not looked at night sprays for Sclerotinia blight in detail, but folks in the southeast get better control of stem rot with “night sprays.” The key is the plants being asleep. More water is better. Make sure you don’t run into the ditch or woods!
About 15 years ago, I sprayed a trial at Rocky Mount at 2 a.m. and Lewiston at 5 a.m. I used Omega 500 for Sclerotinia blight. I did not have enough Sclerotinia blight in the trials to make a good rating. But I did learn two things. More students are out and about on campus at 1 a.m. than 1 p.m. (I had to pickup the state truck from campus.) I also learned how brutal mosquitos can be at night, in the middle of a peanut field in late August.
*Once the truck door was open, it seemed like all the mosquitos in the area were drawn to the light. The distant barking of dogs was rather disconcerting, and I also thought a deputy sheriff might drive up at any time. But that certainly does not mean I am paranoid.
