Applying Cadre / Impose on Small Peanuts Peanut Notes No. 81 2025

I was asked is Cadre could be sprayed on small peanuts to control nutsedge. I generally prefer that Cadre or Impose go out later in the season (3-4 weeks after peanuts emerge rather than 1-2 weeks after emergence.) The product label for Cadre indicates that it can be applied "early postemergence to peanut." The grower had a major issue with nutsedge, so an application as early as possible was needed. It was not clear if the species was yellow nutsedge or purple nutsedge. Basagran at 1 quart does well on yellow nutsdge, but Cadre or Impose is needed for purple. Gramaoxone has activity on nutsedge, but in this case the weed was large and needed Cadre for complete control.
