Pod Set in August Peanut Notes No. 215 2025

From flowering to a yellow pod (mesocarp color) takes around 70 days. To get to 65-70% brown and black combined takes about 100 days. We have made a decent crop before when pegs are set in early August with a warm September/October.

Yellow pods weigh about half as much as black pods. Orange weight is about 75% of black pods. It would take about 80 days under good conditions to get to orange pods. So, a flower that is set August 1 would have yellow pods in late October and would be orange in early November. With a warm September and October this can happen but a lot has to come together.
