Cool Nights and Maturity Peanut Notes No. 272 2025

(Updated: Oct. 11, 2025, 5:12 p.m.)

Most people are digging and harvesting peanuts as quickly as possible. However, for some farmers who planted into June, more time is needed to mature the crop. It looks like we will have several nights below 50 F toward the end of the coming week. Once we have two nights in a row with temperatures below 50 F, peanuts seldom advance in maturity even if tempertatures warm.
