Peanut Rx Peanut Notes No. 34 2023

Question:

Given the limited acres of runners in the state, I am trying to evaluate an apples to apples comparison between runner varieties and Bailey.  I was curious about your opinion on the PeanutRx that UGA developed, specifically in reference to the assessments of varieties resistance to stem rot, leafspot, and tswv and how they may translate to the central coastal plains in NC?
Or if you happen to have some other source material, about half of what we scout ends up being runners and I was looking for some more detailed management information.

Jordan:

The Peanut Rx is a good tool. I would say it is a good comparison to run to get a sense of variety response relative to runners and some Virginia market types. The disease pressure in the southeastern states is high relative to ours, especially for stem rot. That would be reflected in the comparisons.
