Question:
Had a grower spray Cadre/Butyrac on his peanuts last week. Plan on coming back with Cobra/Butyrac and want to add a residual. He already has Dual out, was thinking about Zidua. Palmer is heavy but I'm concerned about burning the peanuts. What are your thoughts on Crop Oil rates and Zidua rates with the Cobra/Butyrac combo? Also, is 7-10 days enough time between the Cadre/Butyrac spray and a Cobra/Butyrac spray.Jordan:
You don’t need crop oil for either treatment. 80/20 nonionic surfactant at 1 quart per 100 gallons is adequate. If you have Palmer amaranth we assume ALS resistance, so I suspect some plants have gotten through Cadre and 2,4-DB. Zidua is a good residual option. If you have Palmer amaranth, I would spray the Cobra plus 2,4-DB as quick as possible. I recommend a lot of Cadre plus Ultra Blazer or Cadre plus Cobra in fields with Palmer amaranth and/or common ragweed escapes. The mixture can help you be more timely on the Palmer amaranth.
