Question:
I got a land plaster on Virginia and Runner market type question. Grower usually applies 1500 lbs on Virginia types and 1000 lbs on Runner types. This spring, they limed at 1000 lbs with calcitic lime and they bottom plowed which has not been done in a long time but they were making an attempt to break the burrower bug cycle which had a bad infestation in this field 3 years ago. They are looking at another land plaster product, and I will text you the link to the tech sheet. Basically, the question is how low should they go on the application rate? Any advice is appreciated!
Jordan:
See Table 3-10 in our guide (2026 Peanut Information) for rates of all products that have gypsum. For USG 500, the recommended rate is 1,300 pounds per acre.
I looked closer at your question. I would use 1300 pounds for Virginia market types (USG 500) and 3/4 of that rate for runner market types.
